Commercial Fire Alarm Systems Scotland - Protect Your Business

If you run a business in the Central Belt, you need a safety setup you can actually trust. We design, install, and maintain the commercial fire alarm systems Scotland relies on. It’s an end-to-end service built for busy facilities managers, landlords, and SMEs who want total peace of mind without the usual hassle.

The Problem With Outdated Fire Systems

You’re busy keeping your business running, so the last thing you need is a failing fire alarm. We know dealing with endless false alarms, confusing control panels faults, or vague maintenance reports is a massive headache.

Worse still, non-compliant systems put your people at serious risk and leave you wide open to hefty legal fines or insurance voids. It’s stressful, and frankly, it’s a huge waste of your time and money.

The RACAM Solution

At RACAM, we take the stress completely out of fire safety. We provide full system design, installation, and commissioning tailored exactly to your premises.

We don’t do guesswork. Every system we build strictly follows BS 5839-1:2025 guidelines, ensuring you meet all legal requirements under the Fire (Scotland) Act 2005.

Whether you need a simple conventional upgrade or a complex multi-panel network for a big office fit-out, we handle the technical side so you don’t have to. You get robust, high-quality commercial fire detection installed by local experts who get the job done right the first time. Need someone to look after it long-term?

We can sort that too with our comprehensive Commercial Fire Alarm Maintenance packages.

Real Results for Local Schools

A serviced office building in East Kilbride was dealing with an outdated system that generated false alarms weekly, driving their commercial tenants crazy and wasting fire brigade resources.

We stepped in, stripped out the old system, and installed an intelligent fully addressable system in just one week.

Since then, they haven’t had a single false alarm, and their tenants finally have total peace of mind and no time wasted falsely evacuating the building

Is a fire alarm legally required in commercial premises?

Yes.

Under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, all non-domestic premises must have appropriate fire detection and warning systems where required by the fire risk assessment. As the client and ‘Responsible Person’ you must ensure the system is suitable, maintained and compliant.

Yes.

A fire alarm system should be designed based on a suitable and sufficient fire risk assessment, as required by the Fire Safety Order.

  • M – Manual System: Relies on occupants to discover a fire and operate manual call points. There are no automatic detectors, providing only basic warning.
  • L1 – Maximum Life Protection: Automatic detectors cover all areas of the building, providing the earliest possible warning to protect anyone within the building.
  • L2 – Escape Routes & High-Risk Areas: Covers escape routes and areas with a higher likelihood of fire, giving enhanced protection while focusing on key zones.
  • L3 – Escape Routes & Adjacent Rooms: Protects escape routes and rooms leading onto them, ensuring occupants can safely exit.
  • L4 – Escape Routes Only: Automatic detectors are installed only along escape routes to allow safe evacuation. Provides modest life protection in lower-risk buildings.
  • L5 – Specific Risk Areas: Customised detection for particular hazards or high-risk areas identified in a fire risk assessment. Tailored protection for unique business needs.
  • P1 – Maximum Property Protection: Automatic detectors cover the entire building to minimise fire damage.
  • P2 – High-Risk Areas Only: Detection is limited to areas with the greatest fire risk or value, focusing protection where it matters most.

Yes, systems can be connected to an Alarm Receiving Centre (ARC) for automatic Fire & Rescue notification where required.

However, please be aware that in Scotland, Fire & Rescue Services updated their response protocols in 2023 for automatic fire alarm activations in commercial/workplace premises.
